A full church on a cold snowy Christmas Eve afternoon with hundreds of people including many families with children. Outside the church the streets are quiet - it seems that the whole of Rostock is here. The fieldworker is standing in the entrance of the church and is surrounded by people walking in and out of the church. The sound of footsteps can be heard in the recording, and the sound of children. The children’s choir can be heard singing, and one child is reading aloud through a microphone. The speaking is interspersed with singing.</p>

I came across this sound when walking towards the Lindenpark from KTV. There was a continual clicking sound coming from the pedestrian crossing which I had never heard before. This recording displays the clicking sound with the sound of traffic in the background stopping and starting as the traffic lights change.</p>

The sound of bells ringing in the distance. The recorder was standing just outside the Traditionsshiff in the IGA park in the late afternoon on a Saturday in December, and the bells started ringing in the distance, across the water in Groß Klein. They continued for a number of minutes. This is just a short recording of the bells. There is also some sound of wind affecting the microphone.</p>

The Breitling Shanty Choir are putting on a performance - a Christmas concert. This is one of the few songs they sing during the evening which is in German. It is accompanied by guitar, trombone, drum, tambourine, accordion.

Men working on scaffolding, probably taking it down, each man is on a different level of the scaffolding and they are passing down metal poles to each other to get them to the ground. People can be heard all around, the men shouting to each other, other shoppers in the market place speaking. A tram can later be heard approaching the station and stopping, its breaks squeaking, people coughing.

A lot of low-fi sound on this recording coming presumably from air conditioners and the shops within the centre. People can be heard walking past and talking, a baby can be heard speaking as well. In the background is a faint sound of canned music which increases in volume throughout the recording. Also the sound of shopping being scanned at a check-out.
